to match rhythm (a poem)

mouths_poem

some men are able to just let go with grace
as if to pretend of forgetting meant it never existed in the first place
he said they would always leave her
in preparation for his eventual fade

he cannot feel her heart dropped to the base of her throat
he never said ‘go’
he didn’t

what of it
what of it
he is tired
he works too hard
and his memory fails him
the world just loves him too much
loves him in rhythm
like she simply cannot do
loves him in rhythm
like she simply cannot do
her love is too serious for this time
her love whines
like a crack in the sky

handed a platform through this wake
some men are able to pretend of forgetting
and are given this grace
